There are the days, especially when they’ve been long, when we sometimes say things, and they, well… they burst out of our mouths at 90 miles per hour (including hand gestures) like this:
“I need wood, about an inch in diameter and 36 inches long. It’s going to go in my thing…you know, on the door, the part on the bottom so it can’t be pushed open.”
A few nights later I was telling this story to friends who had a few drinks and the conversation went down a very different path which included screaming laughter and tears.
I really did need two of those “things” and when I went into Lowe’s at 9:00 at night a few weeks ago, the really nice gal who I actually said that to, took me to the isle with the “dowels”. She then pointed me to the direction of the wood cutter guy and in about 60 seconds and $4.69 later I had two brand spanking new DOWELS one for the sliding glass door and the other for my front window.

Amy, this is classic! It’s a great post on so many levels! But, I am smirking just a little bit too… 😉
