Bicycles in Denver

April 27, 2013 by Amy Cesario

BCyclesLast week as I was strolling to one of my neighborhood restaurants for dinner I noticed we had a new bank of B-Cycles!

I have been contemplating buying an extra bike so I could have an extra for a friend. I remembered reading that the city was adding 30 new “bike-borrowing stations”.  So now I’m thinking “problem solved”. We’ll just go grab one of these!

Just so you know how they work if you are not familiar, you can borrow a bike (or however many) for a day or a week or a month or a year.  Okay you can’t keep the bike for a year, but let’s just say you are visiting me and we decided to ride our bikes downtown for breakfast, we’ll go get you a bike just down the street and it will cost $8.00 for the day.  We park it downtown eat, walk, shop, site see,  whatever and decide we want to ride to LoHi for ice cream, we could keep that bike or maybe we weren’t sure so we parked it in it’s place and so we get you a new one.  We could then ride that one back through downtown to Cherry Creek for dinner and drinks and leave it there or we could ride it back to the station by my house.  If it is the beginning of the summer I’m pretty sure my booty will not be in bike riding shape so I will need a cab for the last leg home but you get the idea.

Fees are: $8 for the day, $20 for the week, $30 for a month and $80 for the year. If you just want to try it out for 30 minutes it is free! Here’s a map to find a location near you!

Bike safe!
